Conversations I couldn't make up if I tried

At the Senior Dinner tonight I was explaining to one of my advisees that later in the evening a faculty member would be roasting the Senior class.

"You mean they're going to cook the Seniors?!"

Later, as we were sitting the auditorium waiting for the ceremony to begin he asked, "When is the barbecue happening?"
